God Is The Light- Revelation Through The Power Of God’s Word
As Christians, we know that God is the light in a world full of darkness. Janis explains how God helps us find our way in the dark through the power of His Word.
God Is The Light
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
The other morning I tried to maneuver in the dark through my family room. I found out that this was not a good idea. BAM I smacked my leg into a large ceramic pot used for recycling newspaper. OUCH. That hurt. And I developed a painful bruise on my shin.
Walking in the dark can be treacherous. Now I use a flashlight or turn on the lights.
God helps us find our way in the dark. It is through His Word that we can find the light to help us on our path.
A Lamp To My Feet And A Light For My Path
We find one verse about light in Psalm 119, verse 105. It says:
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
And in Psalm 119: verse 30 we read:
The unfolding of your words give light, it gives understanding to the simple.
Recently I have started to lead a Bible study using the SIMPLE Method of Study which allows us to go deeper into a verse or passage. I found it fascinating that this Psalm says it gets understanding to the simple. I found this way of studying the Bible gave revelation to us.
We have only had 2 sessions so far and I have seen how the unfolding of God’s Word can give light to our paths as well as understanding to us.
Using only 1 verse everyone came away from our study both times with a specific life application. And each one of us received a different message. How wonderful is that!
Learn To Live The Word
The POWER of God’s Word still amazes me. I knew I had learned much from my own personal study using this method but watching God speak to 7 different women enthralled and excited me.
I would encourage you to go deeper into the Word – don’t just read it and learn it – learn to LIVE it.
